Constance Bay Beach Maternity Photoshoot | Ottawa Maternity Photographer
If you're looking for natural, emotional, and timeless maternity photography in Ottawa, Constance Bay Beach is one of the most stunning locations to consider. As an Ottawa maternity photographer, I always recommend this quiet, scenic spot to expecting parents who want a peaceful setting with both water and forest elements. For Vinisha and Mohitt’s maternity session, we had originally hoped for a glowing sunset, but the weather had other plans—and it turned out even better than we imagined.
The forecast was calling for rain the day of our shoot, and we seriously considered rescheduling. But after a few back-and-forths, we decided to go for it—and I'm so glad we did. The rain paused for the exact hour we were together. No umbrellas, no rushing. Just calm skies, a quiet beach, and the kind of soft, moody light that you can't plan for but always hope to get. The overcast skies added a beautiful, slightly dramatic tone to the photos, creating something more unique and atmospheric than the romantic sunset we had initially envisioned. And in the end, both Vinisha and I were so happy with how the images turned out.

Vinisha wore a long, white lace maternity gown that brought texture and elegance to the session. The dress flowed beautifully against the muted backdrop of the water and sand. Mohitt kept things simple and timeless with a neutral linen shirt and jeans, complementing the relaxed tone of the session perfectly. Their styling choices were a perfect match for the soft, coastal setting.
We started with some gentle poses along the shoreline—nothing overly posed or forced. Just the two of them connecting, laughing, and soaking in this moment before their baby arrives. One of my favourite things about photographing maternity sessions like this is watching the quiet, natural connection between partners unfold. There’s a rhythm that develops when people feel comfortable in front of the camera, and Vinisha and Mohitt slipped into that space so easily.
A highlight of the session was when Mohitt knelt down and wrapped his hands around Vinisha’s belly, with her hands layered over his. It was such a tender moment—simple but full of meaning. These kinds of images are a reminder that maternity photos aren’t just about the bump; they’re about connection, anticipation, and documenting a growing family with honesty. We also attempted to have their sweet pup rest his head on Vinisha's belly, but he didn't want to cooperate that evening. Sometimes planned poses just don't work out for whatever reason, but Vinisha and Mohitt rolled with the punches like complete champs! I think the shots we did get are still pretty cute.
We ended the session with both of them walking barefoot through the shallow waves, hand in hand. The soft ripples, the quiet water, and the reflections all added something really serene to those final shots. It felt like the perfect way to wrap up a session that unfolded so naturally, despite the weather’s unpredictability.
If you're expecting and considering maternity photos in Ottawa, especially at an outdoor location like Constance Bay Beach, my best advice is to embrace whatever the day gives you. Whether it's sun-drenched skies or soft overcast clouds, your story will come through, and that’s what makes the photos truly meaningful.
