Family Session at Mac Johnson Wildlife Area – Brockville Family Photographer
When people think of the perfect day for photos, they often imagine golden sunshine and clear skies—but let me tell you a little secret: overcast days are actually amazing for photography. The soft, even light makes for the dreamiest tones, and that’s exactly what we got during this family session with Kallie, Devyn, and their adorable daughter Addison at Mac Johnson Wildlife Area in Brockville.
Tucked away just minutes from the heart of Brockville, Mac Johnson is one of my favorite locations for family photography. The mix of forest trails, open fields, and peaceful water views makes it an ideal backdrop for both candid and posed moments.
When we first started the session, Kallie and Devyn were a little shy in front of the camera—which is totally normal! Most people aren't used to being photographed, and that’s where a few fun, silly prompts came in handy. With just a bit of gentle direction, they quickly started to loosen up, laugh together, and genuinely enjoy the moment.
And then there was Addison. Oh my goodness—this little one was an absolute natural. From the first click of the shutter, she was full of smiles, giggles, and endless charm. Whether she was running ahead on the path, snuggling in close with Mom and Dad, or just flashing the camera her sweetest smile, Addison brought so much energy and personality to every single photo.
What I loved most about this session was watching the three of them connect as a family. That’s what I aim to capture in every shoot—real, honest connection. And despite the grey skies, the warmth and love between Kallie, Devyn, and Addison made every frame feel vibrant and full of life.
If you’re looking for a family photographer in Brockville, Kingston, or Ottawa, don’t let the weather hold you back. Some of the most beautiful moments come from embracing the mood of the day, just like this session did.
