Mac Johnson Wildlife Area: A Romantic Winter Session with Kaitlyn & Alex
At Mac Johnson Wildlife Area in Brockville, on the same frigid day as Dakota & Brody’s family session, I had the pleasure of photographing Kaitlyn and Alex’s couple’s session. The cold may have been relentless, but these two were completely wrapped up in each other—both literally and figuratively—making for some stunning, love-filled moments.
We found a beautiful spot along a well-known walking trail, the crisp winter air adding a dreamy feel to their cozy embraces and genuine laughter. Despite the freezing temperatures, Kaitlyn and Alex leaned into the moment, keeping each other warm with quiet smiles and playful interactions. Every shot was filled with warmth, even if our fingers were anything but!
In the middle of the session, we had an unexpected but fun interruption—a friend of theirs happened to be walking the trail with his dog! I captured the exact moment they realized who it was, their expressions shifting from surprise to joy in an instant. It was such a sweet, unplanned moment that added even more personality to their gallery.
Just like with Dakota’s session, we had to move quickly to beat the cold, but the love between Kaitlyn and Alex made every second worth it. Their connection was effortless, their laughter genuine, and their willingness to embrace the moment—despite the chill—made for some truly beautiful images.
After this back-to-back freezing experience, I’ve learned my lesson: gloves are now a must for winter sessions. But looking back at these images, I wouldn’t trade the cold for anything. These are the kinds of moments that make photography so rewarding—real, unscripted, and full of life. ❄️❤️📸
