Downtown Ottawa Engagement Session at Major’s Hill Park & Château Laurier
There’s something undeniably magical about downtown Ottawa in the summer — the warm golden light, historic architecture, and lush green spaces create the perfect setting for an engagement session. This recent shoot with Shanyka & Alex captured all of that and more.
We started the session at Major’s Hill Park, one of Ottawa’s most iconic green spaces. Overlooking the Ottawa River with panoramic views of Parliament Hill and the National Gallery, this location offers a quiet escape right in the heart of the city. The park’s pathways and soft greenery gave us the perfect chance to ease into the shoot, and these two made it easy — they’re so natural with one another.
Next, we made our way toward the Château Laurier, a fairytale castle-like hotel nestled beside the Rideau Canal. Its creamy stone exterior and romantic turrets are a dream backdrop for any couple who loves timeless elegance. As the sun began to dip lower, we took advantage of that magical golden hour light streaming between the stone columns.

Lastly, we wrapped up the evening in the beautifully manicured gardens of Major’s Hill Park. As the sun dipped lower, the golden light filtered softly through the trees, casting the dreamiest glow over everything. Surrounded by vibrant flowers and lush greenery, it was the perfect setting for some quiet, intimate moments between Shanyka and Alex. They completely melted into each other, relaxed, connected, and just so full of love. I mean, seriously... how adorable are they? This final stretch of the session was the perfect way to end our time together, capturing the tenderness and joy that radiates between them.
